The Magpie Bridge comes from the story of two star-crossed lovers whose love was forbidden by the gods, and they were thus banished to two sides of the silver river, also known as the milky way. But once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar, a flock of magpies would form a bridge for these lovers to reunite. There is also a piece of poetry composed by Qin Guan, entitled Immortals at the Magpie Bridge. This is probably where the name of this chapter comes from.
