Lets go straight to the pros and cons of TGR

Pros:

-It connects with BTTH and WDQK, which is amazing. It's like a superhero team up.

-There's no harem for those who hate it

-quite a few epic battle moments, face slaps, and reveals that are quite satisfying.

-It's got most of the elements you enjoy from BTTH and WDQK so if you enjoyed those, you'll likely appreciate this too.

-I highly recommend this series to any new readers (to have read less than 10 novels of this genre)

Cons:

-Author relies heavily on generic xianxia tropes, so experienced reader may get tired of some.

-Too much plot holes, you will notice them. Just a matter of how much it bothers you.

-Author made the mistake of introducing MC as a 'God of Slaughter' but his actions are closer to that of a pacifist. Keep your thirst of blood expectations down.

-Supporting characters do nothing, this is not like WDQK where MC's brothers keep up with him throughout the series. Every supporting character will get left in the dust, some sooner than others.

-Don't expect MC to rely on intelligence and strategy, he will brute force and plot armor through everything.

In conclusion:

I feel TGR is a little overrate. Coming from someone whose read 40-50 of these, if that matters at all. Did this series have awesome moments? Hell ya! But for every great moment, there's 2 dumb/poorly written filler ones.

I rate this series: 3 out of 5 Stars

sequel of battle through the heavens and wu dong quian kun, and battle through the heavens was one of the first novels that got me hooked on this site. I'm a little past half way through this novel as i write this, and still look forward to finishing it. It has many of the elements from the prequels still involved, but from a new perspective. battle through the heavens was about a medicine refiner, wu dong quian kun was about a symbol master/weapons refiner, and this one goes down the path of an array master. this trilogy pretty much covers the most popular wuxia themed professions with each being awesome in their own right

This novel blows.

So no one ever dies, despite people making many, MANY attempts at killing the MC. They are either 'crippled' which means they keep their current cultivation but just cannot get stronger in the future, or they are 'unknown if dead or alive' and then never talked about again.

In 700 chapters the MC killed 2 or 3 people.

"it's a brutal slaughter fest with many sects participating" *no one dies, even though people tried to clearly kill MC, MC decides to just beat them up and take their points, Q the peanut gallery saying he is sooooooo fucking ruthless for beating people up*

Seriously, there is NO danger to the MC or any of his friends because no one dies, not even the bad guys die.

This is basically DragonBall Z where everyone just beats up everyone and threatens to kill people but no one actually does it.

Whenever the MC says he is going to kill someone I go "no your not, you're just going to beat him up and then you let them go or "unknown if dead or alive".

There is no thrill, because there is no risk, there is no enjoyment, because there is no reward.

There is not even a shared currency talked about except for one chapter around chapter 150-200 where MC goes to an auction and makes an off hand comment about his dad giving him some gold. in chapter 620 when he needs to go to an auction house the currency is conveniently revealed to be what he just received in large amounts 40 chapters ago.

Oh yeah, there is no comment about spirit rings or anything like that, in 720 chapters I noted TWICE where something like that *mustard bracelet* is talked about. Once near the beginning found on some bloke trying to kill MC and once later on where super powered person asks to take a peek at his to remove a tracing rune on it.

This would be excusable if it was the authors first novel, but it's his THIRD in a shared universe.

No excuses. My guess is that the author is getting lazy.

Edit: Forgot to add that the author is sexist as hell, every woman is either an object, an idiot, meek and listens to what others say or B A B E.

I mean he even makes the lesbian character start to question her sexuality because she met MC, like wtf?

I am on chapter 701, I think I might just drop it in 15 chapters.
