The eight Great Spirits were beings none of the gods could beat.

Among them were the Wheel of Fire, or the Sun Wheel; the Lord of the Sky, who could see through everything; the Lord of Light, whom evil could never approach; the Lord of Heaven, who delivered the punishment of the heavens; and so forth.

They were the ones propping up the Divine world and the leaders responsible for maintaining order in the Divine world.

They were the nobles among the nobles, who had once served the Primordial god. Moreover, their factions were called the eight great forces. They were considered the immutable powers that led the Divine world. 

However, there had once been a time when there were nine great forces. It was a time when everyone had been surprised by their emergence, but they had disappeared in short order. And the ninth force wasn’t expected to appear again.
