First things first. The Translator is NaughtyOtter, one of the most consistent Korean translators there is. I've been following this bastard since he translated Emperor of Solo Play, and he recently just finished/added Moon Labyrinth under his experience list as well. You'll find that any work he (she?) does usually is top quality and won't go wrong with supporting his broke ass with advance chapters.

Now onto the novel proper. I'm not really very impressed by the setting and intro thus far- MC is an overpowered munchkin, who is so far ahead in terms of power level compared to the rest. Think One Punch Man. Or Goku SS3 vs Emperor Pilaf power levels.

Unfortunately for him, he got betrayed in a raid by other lesser munchkins, who claimed he sacrificed himself for the greater good. 20 years later, he reappeared and no one believe he is who he say he is.

There are additional plot points, but I'll just skip over that since the main takeaway is whether you can tolerate the MC. He is brash and abrasive, and reminds me of Weed in his self-centeredness. Sure, he got betrayed and he got some revenging to do, but this isn't 2007 and an MC being an ass doesn't come across as cool anymore. Instead, the current novel meta for scheming cool/badass MC would be Cale Henituse, or Blackie Seol Jihu for a warrior badass.

I'm also personally not very keen on MCs being all powerful right off the get go. Ever played that infamous saved game in FF7 where you start off level 99 with Ultimate weapon equipped, 999,999 gil and all materia mastered? Yeah, the game gets boring, and so would this novel if the author decides to make it combat heavy.

Like all my other reviews, I'll give this a recommend first, and will revisit at 100 chapters later. Some stories takes a while to get good and you just need to give them time. Also considering we got an excellent translator for the novel, its worth sticking with it for some time before doing a final evaluation.

The translation was excellent. Only, the story wasn't. This story revolves around revenge against comrades that betrayed the protagonist after 20 years trapped in a tower. Only, the MC is so ridiculously overpowered he can easily kill the others in mere seconds. What is the point of making it a revenge story if the enemies will die within a couple of dozen chapters? Sure, there are the aliens, but within the 20 chapters already translated, I haven't seen any actual appearance of these aliens. In the first couple of chapters, there was a description of these alien societies occupying the earth. Yet, after the MC returns, I only have seen mention of monsters. Keep in mind, the MC originally killed these monsters easily while the enemies can't even scratch them. These monsters are so powerful that the enemies who betrayed the MC run every time. If these monsters exist, how is Earth not already overrun after 20 years?

Another thing that bugs me is that there is constant mention of the MC's best friend not knowing whether the 12 saints (the enemies of the MC) killed the MC or not when he himself is part of the 12 saints. Sure, he may not have gone to the tower together with the MC in battle, but the first few chapters of the novel said that all 12 saints came out without the MC, meaning the best friend was there for the fight (where the MC basically solo'd everything) and the betrayal. Of course, as we have a third-person perspective, we know he's innocent, but how is it possible you don't know if you were literally there with them. Plot holes like these make the story unenjoyable, which frustrates me because the translators spent time translating this.

Looks good so far. Although it is a revenge story again I think the story has some potential. The protagonists character is entertaining and neither too bad nor too good. Also his thoughts and actions mostly seem rather reasonable and understandable in regards of his circumstances. What is also interesting is that it is not something like the typical rebirth-revenge story where the MC dies because of his comrades betrayal and then is sent back to his past. Instead he unknowingly survives his comrades plot and then after a long time comes back to take his revenge which is rather interesting. I am really looking forward to how this is going to develop.
