Chae Nayun heaved a sigh and the children surrounding her cried. They all stood on the remains of a crumbled building. A wooden plaque on the ground read, [Orphanage].

One of the children approached Chae Nayun with shaking legs and tried to speak.

“Ah!”

However, she fell flat on the ground after a demonic beast growled.

“Don’t worry.”

Chae Nayun reassured them as she turned around. Demonic beasts that resembled a wolf, an octopus, and an 8-handed humanoid stared at her with killing intent.

“I’ll protect all of you.”

Chae Nayun formed a barrier around them with her magic power. She didn’t specialize in barriers, so it consumed even more of her magic power. Still, it would be better than one of them getting hurt.

The demonic wolf beast shot forward and Chae Nayun swung her sword at its head. She cleanly severed it in half.

— U-Uwoah!

— Y-You can do it!

The children cheered from inside the barrier when she cut down the beast. Hearing them gave her an energy boost, but more annoying monsters appeared.

— Kieeeeek!

A loud screech descended from the sky and she looked up.

— Kieeek!

Dozens, no, hundreds of flying demonic beasts gath...
