Swallan tried to smile, but couldn’t lift up the corners of her mouth. She realized that she felt timid in the face of the energy coming out of Juan even before she knew it. The black-haired young man sitting loosely in front of the pit and simply staring at her could easily kill her before she even blinked her eyes.
