After blacking out at a class reunion, Li Yuan awakens in a brutal world reminiscent of ancient China. Famines rage, human life is cheap, and the specter of war looms at every corner. Worse still, the eerie rumors of monsters lurking deep in the forests and things that go bump in the night prove all too real.

Now scraping by as a humble hunter in a remote village, Li Yuan must also watch over a woman entrusted to his care. Although he’s blessed with a mysterious status window, he’s still just a leaf on the wind—easily blown astray by the sweeping storms of change. Join him as he struggles to navigate political upheavals and unforeseen perils, striving to forge his own destiny as history unfolds around him.

Official: Li Yuan crosses over into a martial world where demons and ghosts lie dormant, becoming an ordinary hunter struggling to survive. It’s only after he takes a wife that he discovers a status window. As the stars shift and ages pass, though seas dry and lands change, he remains steadfast and unchanging.

I'm 200~~ chapters in at time of review (yeah I read a little bit ahead :3 )

I love this novel. A lot. The tone of the world is spectacular, I love the balance the author struck between slice of life / the MC working his ass off for his cultivation / preparing for and dealing with ever growing danger in the world.

This is a novel where the MC has a "system" to help him grow. Despite this, he never really feels completely overpowered. He has no high-level master to guide him, and is essentially a country bumpkin who has to break through every single "wall" in his cultivation on his own, without the help of his system, trying to create his own martial arts legacy from scratch.

Anyhoo read this novel it's good

The pace and the setting are both very well done.

You won’t meet your throng of young masters and face slapping tropes, rather a focus on a slow and measured grind balancing being at the helm with never revealing all the cards. The existence of a major faction which can rival cultivators while not at all being as proficient in combat, instead using supernatural resources in a systematic way, is quite novel (to me at least) and adds a bit of curiosity to the way the story will develop.

There are elements which the author could improve on; like the inadvertent harem scene where the main wife/wives can just be forgotten years on end and the actual interaction with the system making MC casually OP feeling very lackluster and unexplored. Combat power is another aspect which has left opportunities on the table to a very large extent. I could mention many small gripes and missed opportunities if really going into the details, but in the end these aspects which are lacking aren’t what you would be looking for when reading this novel.

If you’re looking for a cross between slice of life and cultivation novels, where the setting is cultivation, yet the pace and regular topics are slice of life: this is going to please you as much as it did me. Do be aware that there is an overarching horror-esque theme to the setting, which can feel gloomy/dark if it’s not your cup of tea.

My advice: Give the first couple of chapters a shot, and be patient with the initial world building. From around chapter 12 it starts settling into the pace it’ll retain for a long while and which is one of the core defining features/perks of the novel to me.

Just caught up to the main 50 chapter release and I approve of this novel!~

The setting is pretty common so far, we have a slightly wimpy MC who transmigrates and gets caught up in a chaotic world. I know the catchline for the novel is "he gains points after a harmonious night" but it's surprisingly a bit more complex than that, and the MC does discover more about the system as the novel goes on. Which imo is nice, because our MC isn't OP at all. Honestly we see novels all the time where the MC gains the system and in one month he's basically god-tier of the moral realm. Our MC here is constantly vigilant for dangers and is very humbly aware that he's rather lowly on the totem pole.

The cultivation threw me off a little but honestly their explanations are pretty easy to understand. So far it's rather generic with world building (small village, then small sect, etc etc), but it does have a ton of foreshadowing for what's to come, and it's already introduced elements into the store that the MC has a goal to hit. It shows a lot of promise for what's to come and doesn't really lose energy or pacing.

The only gripe I will say about this novel is that it's got very little actual action in it, in so far. We get a few moments where the MC might get caught up in a fight, but he avoids them pretty well (hence why I called him wimpy). Which, in fairness, is quite a bit a bit different from other cultivation novels. But I can see where this is going to go and I'm all for it.

I'll probably edit this review around 200 but honestly so far, I'd recommend this!
