Skill points could be used to raise the level of a skill by 1. There was a catch, however. According to Loretta, every time skill points were used to increase the level of a skill, the following level up required double the amount of skill points.

It may not seem like a big deal, but it was. To put it into perspective, the first level up required 1 point, but the following ones required 2, 4, 8 and so on. That meant 31 skill points were needed to raise a single skill by 5 levels. Due to that, I had decided to save my points until I reached a point when I felt my growth was stunted.

Of course, now was an exception. I currently had 20 skill points. Even if I needed to exhaust them, I had to make myself stronger.

My spear technique recently reached high-rank level 6. With one point, it would become high-rank level 7.

I felt like my body was being pressed strongly, like someone was trying to forcefully stuff me with the concept of getting stronger. To be honest, it wasn’t a good feeling. If possible, I wanted to rely on my own strength to increase my spear technique levels…
