After Adam's upper body was completely smashed into bits, the angel of death continued its assault, destroying his lower body before he had a chance to regenerate.

Thankfully, Sludge possessed tremendous regenerative abilities, and Adam's body began to slowly reform as the patterns of Sludge's domain appeared on the ground.
